How to Make Perfectly Soft and Sweet Barfi at Home

Barfi is a popular Pakistani dessert made with a mixture of condensed milk and sugar, flavored with cardamom and often made into various shapes and flavors. It is a rich and creamy treat that is perfect for any occasion and can be enjoyed hot or cold.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to make barfi at home:

  • 2 cups condensed milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup ghee or unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the condensed milk, sugar, and ghee or butter.

  2. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. Reduce the heat to low and continue cooking the mixture, stirring frequently, until it becomes thick and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. This should take about 20-30 minutes.

  4. Once the mixture has thickened, add the cardamom powder and chopped nuts (if using) and mix well to combine.

  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×9 inch square pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

  6. Allow the mixture to cool completely in the pan. Once it is completely cool, use a sharp knife to cut the mixture into squares or diamonds.

  7. Sprinkle some chopped nuts on top of the barfi if desired.

  8. Serve the barfi at room temperature or chilled. Enjoy!
